whilin' away the hours...

exam Hannah reports!

so far i've written 2 of my 6 mid-year exams - Modern Fiction on Wednesday morning and Media Studies on Thursday morning. they were the two i was dreading the most, and they both went fairly well, so i feel like i can relax just slightly now :)

my next exam is on Monday afternoon. it's the first of my three English papers and it's all about ROMANTICISM! so i've spent the day reading over the examinable poems for Wordsworth and Keats. it's been heavenly.

i particularly adore Wordsworth's "Ode" - the man is basically a lyrical boss! observe:

"Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting:
The Soul that rises with us, our life's Star,
Hath had elsewhere its setting,
And cometh from afar:
Not in entire forgetfulness,
And not in utter nakedness,
But trailing clouds of glory do we come
From God, who is our home:
Heaven lies about us in our infancy!"

and then, later:

"What though the radiance which was once so bright
Be now for ever taken from my sight,
Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower;
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind;
In the primal sympathy
Which having been must ever be;
In the soothing thoughts that spring
Out of human suffering;
In the faith that looks through death,
In years that bring the philosophic mind."

need i say any more? well, perhaps just this: whataman.

and now it's dinner time, so i'll be off :)
